About Schools OK

An independent reference to school life across the UK, helping families understand their options and make the most of what schools offer.

A little understanding makes a difference.

School brings new words, new routines and plenty of questions. Schools OK is a place to make sense of them. We explain how school works, what children can experience and how families can take a constructive part in the journey.

Our focus is going to school in the UK: learning, friendships, creativity, independence, practical routines and the help that makes participation possible. Schools can open doors to ideas, people and experiences that a child might not otherwise encounter. We want to make those opportunities easier to understand.

Four nations, clearly explained

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have different education systems. Our nation guides explain their broad structures. Subject guides identify where a rule or term belongs to a particular nation and encourage families to confirm individual arrangements locally.

An independent reference

Schools OK is not a school, admissions service, inspection body or government website. We do not rank individual schools or maintain a verified directory of places. You will not find paid school placements or affiliate recommendations here.

Some older addresses on this domain came from a previous education directory. We now use those subject areas for reference guides, so visitors following older links can still find relevant reading. We do not claim that a former listing is current or endorsed.

Useful beyond the reading

Our family toolkit includes a school-stage finder and practical checklists. The school glossary explains unfamiliar words. Every guide connects to related reading so you can follow the questions that matter to you.
