What the site does by default
This website does not include advertising pixels, third-party analytics, remote font requests or embedded social widgets. Reading the guides does not require an account.
The web server and hosting provider may keep normal access and security logs. These can include IP addresses, request dates, browser information and requested paths. The site operator is responsible for configuring access and retention for these hosting logs.
Essential cookies
Administrator login and the correction form use essential session and request-protection cookies. They keep a signed-in session secure and help prevent forged form submissions. Public reading pages and the school-stage finder do not require a tracking cookie.
Your checklist choices
Checklist progress is held in the current page unless you explicitly choose “Remember my checklist on this device”. If selected, the ticks and notes are stored in this browser’s local storage. They are not sent to our server. You can clear them using the checklist’s clear-progress button, turn off the option, or clear browser site data. Do not save sensitive notes on a shared device.
Searches and the school-stage finder
These tools work from the words or age and nation you enter. They do not ask for a child’s name or date of birth. Search and stage selections appear in the page URL and may therefore appear in browser history and hosting logs. Please do not put private information in search queries.
Corrections you send
The correction form saves your message, page reference and an optional email address in the private administration area. Provide only what is needed to explain the issue; do not include a child’s name, medical details or confidential school records. An email address is optional and may be used to clarify the correction. Messages are not published.
Correction messages are retained for up to 180 days by the site’s maintenance task. A request to remove a message can be sent through the same form, identifying the earlier message without adding unnecessary personal information. The operator must arrange a daily maintenance run for automatic deletion.
Broken-link diagnostics
The application records normalised missing page paths and approximate counts to help repair links. It does not store IP addresses, full referring URLs or query strings in that application record. Missing-path records are removed after 90 days by the maintenance task.
Questions
Use the correction form for a privacy question or removal request. The same form can be used to request information about how your submitted message is handled.
