Built for different ways of reading
The site uses semantic headings, keyboard-accessible navigation, visible focus indicators, labelled form controls and responsive layouts. Guides are rendered on the server, so the main content and internal links are available without JavaScript.
Using the keyboard
Press Tab to move between links and controls. The first link lets you skip directly to the main content. Press Enter to follow a link and Space to tick a checkbox. Questions in the guide FAQs use the browser’s native expandable controls.
Making reading comfortable
You can use your browser’s text zoom. The layout adapts to smaller screens, and wide tables have their own scroll area. Animations respect reduced-motion preferences. Most pages include a print-friendly layout that removes navigation and decorative content.
Tools and JavaScript
Search and the school-stage finder work without JavaScript. Glossary filtering, checklist progress counts and optional checklist memory use JavaScript. Without it, the glossary and all checklist items remain available to read, tick and print using your browser.
Tell us what gets in the way
We have not commissioned an independent accessibility certification. If a page or control is difficult to use, please use the correction form and describe the page, device and problem. We welcome specific feedback that helps make the site easier to use.
